The D-Sub connectors are electrical connectors commonly used in computer systems. They are so named because of the D-shaped metal shield surrounding the contact point. The industry standard D-Sub connectors were invented by Cannon in 1952.  In 1963, Cannon became part of engineering critical component manufacturer ITT Corporation. Since then the company is known as ITT Cannon. Within ITT Corporation, ITT Cannon is part of the ITT Interconnect Solutions group that manufactures a wide range of connectors, including D-Sub connectors.

Part number DEM5W1S is a D-Sub coax signal contact type connector. It offers 5 contact positions in 2 rows. The connector type is a receptacle with sockets. This component is panel mounted and termination is via soldering. It shows a current rating of 7.5A and the operating temperature range is -55 to +125 deg C. The housing material for part number DEM5W1S is polyester, and the shell material is steel. The shell finish is yellow chromate plated zinc. The contact finish is gold and the component is black.

Part number DDMMR24W7S is an ITT Cannon D-Sub connector manufactured to military specifications MIL-DTL-24308. This component is also a coaxial and signal type connector with sockets (receptacle) for making the connection. There are in all 24 contact points, of which 7 are axial. It is panel mounted and terminated by solder cup. Several specifications of this component are identical to part number DEM5W1S (discussed above) such as steel shell material and gold contact finish. The shell finish material is also the same. This component is also housed in polyester material and is black in color.

Part number DAMM7H2PN also adheres to military specification MIL-DTL-24308. This is a power and signal connector that has to be through hole mounted. It is a plug connector with pins. Other major specifications are similar to the earlier two components we have discussed.
